10:00 - 10:30Enhancing the Quality of Teacher Feedback

James will explore the lessons learned from over ten years of teacher appraisal and development in the UK, focusing on ways in which school leaders can improve the quality of their feedback and engage with their staff in a more meaningful and productive way. Recent research and teacher surveys have proved that effective feedback results in meaningful changes to classroom practice which in turn improve student outcomes. However, most schools are stuck in a rut of annual reviews and simple objective setting with no real meaningful data on the quality of teaching in their establishment. This can be changed relatively simply and adapted for teachers at different stages of their careers to ensure they continue to provide the very best education for their students.

With the correlation between education and opportunities, the quality of education reveals itself pivotal in this regard.  For this session, having a diverse educational background and partnering with different schools with Komunitas Kawan Bawana, I will share my outlook on equal opportunities for all; discussing the correlation between education and opportunities, working with under-privileged people and different schools, and analyzing how pivotal the right tools in education are to help students be self-sustaining and grow.
